Dear Friends & Neighbors:

As we are painfully aware, this has been a difficult fiscal year for everyone, especially not-for-profits like the eagle fund. Fortunately, under the guidance of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, the eagle fund’s losses were less than average, and we are pleased to report that our funds have taken a turn upwards in recent months.

Despite our financial setback, the eagle fund was still able to make award grants this past spring. My gratitude goes to our dedicated Board of Governors as well as this year’s Grant Awards Committee for judiciously managing and dispersing the money we had available to the many grant recipients.

As you can see from the list on the next page, our grants covered a wide range of projects in the arts, technology and sciences. As always, the eagle fund and our sister fund, The Janet’s Fund, remain committed to providing outstanding programming outside the normal curriculum in our school district. These programs
continue to make available to our student body new and creative ways of learning – courses that make our children’s total academic experience rewarding and memorable. These opportunities promote self-confidence and self-esteem, as well as school spirit and a sense of community. In these difficult times, these are qualities that need to be nurtured in our school, and in our students.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people and organizations that have supported the eagle fund this past year. We are grateful to Joe Grochmal and Goodworks Insurance for sponsoring the PhilanthroBee this past spring. This fundraising event raised $13,000 which was split between the eagle fund and
the Berkshire Hills Fund for Excellence. I would also like to thank our generous community for their continued support. Local individuals, towns and businesses are the reason we can continue to offer outstanding enrichment programming.

On November 17th and 18th, was our Annual Phone-A- Thon fundraiser. Students from SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) will be calling on behalf of the eagle fund. When you receive a call from a high school student, please be as generous as
you can. Help us reach our annual fundraising goal of $25,000.

On behalf of our Board of Governors, please accept our thanks in advance for your commitment to offering the students of the Southern Berkshire Regional School District a unique and diversified learning experience.

With best regards,

Diane Pearlman Diamond
